1. Label everything — but make the label do more​

A name on a lunch box helps only if the person who finds it knows your child and bumps into you. A QR tag works even when a total stranger finds it three towns over: they scan it, and you're notified — without your name or address ever being exposed. Start by creating and printing your first tag.

2. One tag can cover a whole kit​

What a finder actually sees​

When someone scans one of your tags, they reach a simple "found it" page for that item. They can send a message, share their location, and leave a way to reach them. What they cannot see is just as important:

• Not your home address
• Not your child's name
• Not your phone number or email

They see only enough to know the item is registered and to start it on its way home. The owner stays anonymous unless you choose to respond.

You control what you share with schools​

Linking your child to a school is opt-in, and even then you decide what's shared. On the sharing preferences screen you choose the details that help staff match an item to your child — typically grade and teacher — and you can change or remove them anytime.

And schools have their own guardrail: an organization setting controls whether staff can see a linked child's name at all. Sharing is always between you and verified staff at an organization you chose — never the public.

Notifications go to you, not outward​

When a tag is scanned, the alert flows to the owner. The finder doesn't get your details in return. You decide how to respond — reply through the contact info they left, or coordinate a return through the school. At every step, the direction of information is inward, toward you.

Privacy that survives a returned item​

How it works​

When an item is returned, the found-item notification now includes a Say thanks with a reward option. Sending one takes a few seconds:

1. Open the notification for the returned item.
2. Choose an amount — quick picks are $1, $2, $3, or $5, or enter your own.
3. Add a short thank-you message if you like.
4. Confirm with a saved payment method.

Where it lands depends on who helped: a registered member gets it in their wallet, someone without an account receives a secure claim link by email, and an organization's staff see it credited to the organization's wallet.

No platform fee — really​

We think gratitude shouldn't be taxed. Boomeraang takes no platform fee on parent-to-finder rewards. Only the standard payment processing fee applies (roughly 2.9% + 30¢), and we show it transparently before you send. Every extra dollar goes to the person who earned it.
